Visit Bungay on the Suffolk / Norfolk border.

Bungay, a lovely town on the Suffolk/Norfolk border in the Waveney Valley

For those looking to take a holiday in the Waveney Valley - that is, the area running along the Norfolk and Suffolk border, on the east coast - you may well want to spend a few hours in the small town of Bungay. Located on the north Suffolk border, Bungay is 12 miles from the glorious east coast.

This pretty town is a great place to wander around, with several small independent shops for you to discover. There are also brightly painted traditional houses lighting up the town.

Bungay is surrounded by the Suffolk countryside, which means the town makes the perfect starting and finishing point for some rural walks (have a look at some of the walks around Bungay). The chances are you'll need some refreshments and sustenance after all that time on your feet; I'd highly recommend the "Earsham Street Cafe" as a place to call in! The photo below shows their "shared platter" - surely large enough to keep you going until tea time.

All this and an indoor swimming pool too

As well as the shops, eateries and walks, Bungay has an indoor swimming pool, complete with a water slide. Whether you're after a swim, or you have children in tow - it's well worth heading to Bungay Swimming Pool.

A holiday cottage to stay in

So you've had a peruse and decided that a walk, swim and shared platter are just what you want, all you need is somewhere to stay. Well let me help you out! First of all there is The Old Post Office in Geldeston, which is 5 miles from Bungay.

Other cottages for you to look at include Butter Pen in Denton, Willow Barn in Denton and Sunnyside in Broome - all of which are only a couple of miles from Bungay. With Park Farm Farmhouse, Old Hall Farm House and Blue Bell Cottage all being in Harleston, around 7 miles from Bungay.

Wherever you decide to book your holiday, I hope you enjoy your time in the Waveney Valley - and have a nice day in Bungay.
