A summer's day in Southwold

What could be better than a summer's day by the coast. Those long sandy Blue Flag beaches; all that sea. Why go to the bother of jetting off to a foreign climate when all this is on your door-step. And, like all the people in the photo below, your chosen beach is Suffolk to hang around on could be Southwold. You've got plenty of Adnams' pubs to frequent too.

Southwold

Southwold is a quaint town on the north Suffolk coast, about 10 miles drive south of Pakefield and Lowestoft- and if you're feeling athletic you can even walk along the beach to Southwold!

This popular town doesn't have a plethora of amusement arcades and bouncy castles (Great Yarmouth, a few miles up the road is the place for that). What Southwold does have is a famous pier, and a long beach lined with eccentrically named beach huts. There are plenty of beach front cafes to stop at, and if you're feeling brave, the life guard monitored sea to swim in.

Join the throng

If you fancy joining the throng and seeing what Southwold is all about, you'll find plenty of holiday cottages in the area which could tempt you. You may want to look at Church Cottage in Reydon; and Troy in Walberswick, a short walk via the foot bridge over the River Blyth.

Set in the Suffolk countryside are Cravens Manor in Henham and Crossbow Cottage in Sotherton.

All these cottages are close to Southwold - and nice places to enjoy Suffolk.
